What is your experience? Answer: I have over 30 years of legal experience in criminal, personal injury, contract, divorce, labor relations, and wills and estate law. I have tried over 300 jury trials that would place me in the top 1% of Illinois Lawyers. I was among the 1st 100 of about 80,000 Illinois lawyers in 2002 admitted to the Capital Trial (death cases) Litigations Bar as Lead Counsel. There are only about 400 lawyers admitted as of 2009 as Lead Counsel.
Why should I vote for you? Answer: I have experience and sound judgment. I have worked in business and been in private practice. I’ve represented both plaintiffs and defendants in 1000’s of cases. I have worked for large corporations, GM, owned and operated small businesses, had a private legal practice, held responsible positions in civic organizations such as President of the Chamber of Commerce and President of a Rotary Club. I’ve been involved with the Boy Scouts, my Church, and served as an advisor to my College. I have served as Adams County’s 1st Public Defender for about the last 13th years.
Tell us about your family. Answer: I have a twin brother and two sisters. I’m better looking than my twin brother. My wife and I have 6 children—all grown, two boys and 4 girls. All have jobs and families. I have 8 grand children including 2 adopted Chinese girls. My Dad is still alive and is 98 years old, lives alone and takes care of his own house, yard and is on the local Bank Board of Directors and on the Hospital Board of Directors as the Approving Treasury. He has held these positions for over 30 years and chiefly worked in the retail clothing business for over 40 years—owning his own stores. My lovely mother is in Heaven.
My wife retired from bus driving a year ago and is decorating our house and raising our 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, and 8 chickens. My wife is an excellent artist and knows everything about antiques that you will ever need to know in your whole life.
Where do you live? Answer: My wife and I live in Quincy. We moved from Park Place (street) to the Saint Boniface Rectory about 2 years ago.
You served a long time as Public Defender—have you ever prosecuted criminal cases? Answer: Yes, I have prosecuted cases. I have been appointed as a Special Prosecutor and Prosecutor cases in the Military (U.S. Army).
Have you served in the Military? Answer: Yes. I served a total of 6 years of service, 2 years active service, and 4 years in the Army Reserves. My 2 years active duty was on the Commanding General’s Staff in Fort Lewis, Washington.
Do you believe you will make a good Judge? Answer: Yes. I have the maturity and demeanor to judge. I believe the best test is to ask other lawyers and Judges their opinion about the candidates. I believe my reputation for honesty and integrity will withstand that kind of inquiry.
