Gems to host Prospect League All-Star Game

Quincy Gems to host 2010 Prospect League All-Star Game and festivities
Quincy Gems will host the 2010 All-Star game for the Prospect League, Owners meeting, League Banquet, Pro-Scout Work out, and Home Run Derby for the Prospect League this coming Tuesday, July 6th.  Quincy Gems named as 2010 All-Star s are: Steve Moranda, pitcher; Alex Jones, Short Stop, and Vinnie Fayard and Andrew Host, outfielders.  
A private League Banquet will be held at 11:30am, followed by a private Pro-Scout work out for league players that did not make the All-Star teams in front of 12 to 15 Major League Scouts that are expected to be on hand for the day.

The Prospect League will honor four former CICL League players who are now Major League Alumni.  The four players will be on hand for the beginning of the All-
Star Game to receive the league's new "All-Time All-Star" Award. They are Paul Reuschel, Phil Bradley, Brian Dorsett, and Josh Rabe.  Reaschel played for Galesburg in the CICL League in 1966-67.  He went on to play in the Pro's for  Cubs and the Indians from 1975 to 1979.  Phil Bradley also played for Galesburg in 1979 in the CICL league, and went on to play in the Pro's for the Mariners, Phillies, Orioles, White Sox, and Giants from 1983 to 1991. Brian Dorsett played in the CICL league as a Quincy Rivermen in 1982 and went on to play pro for the Indians, Angels, Yankees, Padres, Reds, and the Cubs from 1987 to 1996. Brian is also the the coach for the new Terre Haute Rex team in the Prospect League. Josh Rabe played in Quincy as a Quincy Gems in 1998 and 1999 while going to QU, and went on to play for the Twins during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.  The CICL league merged with a group of teams in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in 2009 to form the popular Prospect League, which is now operates 15 teams from Missouri to West Virgina. 
Ticket prices will be the standard $4 GA, and $8 Reserved Box seats for the All-Star game.  Tickets are available on-line at http://www.quincygems.com or by calling 217-223-1000, or at the gate day of the game.
