Hawks add assistant hoops coach

The Quincy University men’s basketball team has announced the addition of Jon Perry as their new Assistant Coach. Perry joins Quincy after previously serving as the Director of Basketball Operations at Penn State University.

“We are pleased that Jon has joined our staff. He has a very strong work ethic and a sharp basketball mind,” said Quincy head coach Marty Bell. “Those qualities coupled with his background and experiences at Penn State and the Big 10 should bring new ideas and energy to our program. I am excited to have him as a member of our athletic staff and the QU basketball family.”

“I am looking forward to working with Coach Bell. I like their style of play and was impressed by the commitment of the University to the program,” said Jon Perry. “Coach Bell has done a good job there and they are coming off a great year last season. I look forward to working with him and the players.”

Perry served as Penn State’s Director of Basketball Operations for two seasons after having spent the previous four years as the team’s video coordinator. Perry is a 2002 graduate of East Tennessee State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in sports management and was an honor roll student.

Following his playing career Perry served as the graduate assistant with his Alma Mater, where he assisted in film exchange and player workouts. Perry moved on to Penn State in 2004 where he was responsible for the Nittany Lions’ scheduling, team travel, player development, camps, day-to-day operations and team managers. Perry has been involved with AAU basketball and has been involved with summer camps at East Tennessee State University, Wake Forest, Penn State, George Mason and St. Joseph’s University.
