The Quincy University men's basketball program has announced the signing of two prep stand outs, Chris Babbit and Austin Weber, for the 2010-11 season.
Babbit, a 6-3 guard/forward from Florissant, Missouri, recently completed his senior season at Hazelwood Central High School. Babbit averaged 12.8 points per game and led the team with 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 54-percent from the field. He was named All-Conference last season while helping his team to a 21-5 overall record.
"I am very pleased Chris decided to join our program," said Quincy head coach Marty Bell. "Chris is an athletic, long and rangy player with the ability to get to the basket and provide a defensive presence. He can also hit the perimeter shot when needed and comes from a good high school program. He should make an immediate impact for us."
Weber, a 6-4 guard from Northbrook, Illinois, is coming off his senior season at Glenbrook North High School in which he averaged 16.0 points per game. Weber had a season high of 32 points as a senior, in which he knocked down 10 three point field goals in the contest. He recently played in the Chicago High School Classic, an all-star game for local prep stars. Weber also helped his team to their ninth consecutive conference title this past season.
"We are excited that Austin has signed on to be a Hawk," said Bell. "He is a terrific outside shooter with tremendous upside. We plan on red-shirting him his first year to allow him to develop, add strength and become better acclimated to our system. He comes from a great basketball family and we look forward to him having an outstanding career as a Hawk."
The Quincy University men's basketball team finished their 2009-10 season with a 23-9 overall record, earning a berth into the NCAA Division II National Tournament and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in school history.
