JWCC hoopsters earn all-conference nods

The John Wood Trail Blazers placed two players on the Mid West Athletic Conference all-conference teams that were released late last week. Sophomore Brylin Brown (Milwaukee, WI ) was a first-team selection and freshman Ryan Stuckman (Quincy, IL) earned a spot on the third-team. Following is the complete listing of the 2009-10 Mid West Athletic Conference men’s basketball All-Conference teams:

2010 MWAC Men’s Basketball All Conference

First Team

· Chris Ware-Lincoln College-2010 MWAC Player of the Year

· Tim Toler – Danville Area Community College

· Brylin Brown – John Wood Community College (17.5ppg, 3.6rpg)

· Rico Pierevilus – Lewis & Clark Community College

· John Washington – Illinois Central College

Second Team

· Kenyon Smith – Lincoln College

· Carlton Westbrook – Lincoln Land Community College

· David Smith – Danville Area Community College

· D.J. Hoskins – Parkland College

· D.D. Gillespie – Shawnee Community College

Third Team

· Anthony Jones – Lewis & Clark Community College

· Derwin Gage – Danville Area Community College

· Dorel Sutherland – Illinois Central College

· Kiel Turpin – Lincoln College

· Ryan Stuckman – John Wood Community College (12.9ppg, 4.2rpg, 1 charge taken per game)

Honorable Mention

The John Wood Lady Blazers placed someone on each of the three all-conference teams and another that earned honorable-mention status within the Mid West Athletic Conference. Sophomore Hillary Held (Highland, IL ) was a first-team selection, sophomore Devin Wombles (Pleasant Hill, IL) earned the second-team nod, sophomore Randi Gronewold (Carthage, IL) earned a spot on the third-team, and sophomore Emily Lay (Canton, MO) gathered enough votes to earn honorable-mention status.
