QND, ranked No. 1 in the Class 4A preseason state poll, scored two
touhdowns in the final 53 seconds to beat Hannibal 36-32.
The Raiders trailed 32-21 before Anthony Bruns caught a 13-yard touchown
pass from Kramer Barnes with 53 seconds left. Ian Hinkamper caught the two-point
conversion pass, then recovered QND's onsides kick.
On fourth and 6, Barnes connected with Bruns again for a 44-yard touchdown
pass with 11 seconds left. Matt Doane added the conversion kick. On Hannibal's
next play from scrimmage, Bruns intercepted a pass to preserve the win.
Barnes was 15 of 34 for 190 yards, while Bruns caught six passes for 86
yards, recovered two fumbles and made an interception. Brandon Ley intercepted
two passes for QND, while Daniel Weiman scored twice -- a game-opening 92-yard
kickoff return and a 26-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Weiman also
threw a 48-yard halfback pass to Barnes for a touchdown with 7:34 left in the
game.
Hannibal, ranked No. 7 in the Missouri Class 4 preseason poll, was led by
Mark Nemes' three touchdown. Nemes finished with 130 yards on 14 carries.
QND hosts Macomb next Friday (JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 7:30)
Hannibal hosts Farmington at 7 p.m. next Friday
