Leigh McLaughlin scores three goals, the first two
just 22 seconds apart during the 36th minute. Both goals came off assists from
Shannon Foley.
A goal by Jordan Frericks, off an assist from
Foley, during the 48th minute put QND ahead 3-0.
Columbia followed with an own goal 22 seconds
later. McLaughlin closed out the scoring, converting an assist from Alex Reis in
the 58th minute.
Columbia finishes 14-5-3
QND now 22-2-0. It's the sixth sectional
championship in program history.
QND will play the Rockford Lutheran vs.
Hinckley-Big Rock winner at 7:30 Friday night in a state semifinal at North
Central College in Naperville.
On Sunday, May 30th the QND soccer team will be welcomed back to Quincy after their state tournament run. It will start at 2:00 pm in the Kmart parking lot and will finish at Quincy Notre Dame High school for a 2:30 pm pep rally.
