HRH Foundation Campaign provides for cardiac rehab renovation

Hannibal Regional Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation recently welcomed patients to its newly renovated department. With funds raised through Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation’s year-long Mending Broken Hearts campaign, the Cardiac Rehab department was able to install new equipment, supplies and furnishings.

Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation received donations totaling more than $64,000 from more than 200 donors for the Mending Broken Hearts campaign. The funds were used to purchase new exercise equipment, including treadmills, stepper, recumbent bicycle, arm ergometer and an elliptical as well as other equipment and facilities upgrades.  Having a variety of equipment allows physicians to prescribe different exercises based on the patient’s needs and abilities.

“On behalf of the Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation, I would like to offer sincere appreciation to our donors who made our Mending Broken Hearts campaign a success,” stated Wendy Harrington, Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation President.  “The renovation of the Cardiac Rehabilitation department allows HRH patients access to state-of-the-art equipment and resources, fostering hope and healing in their time of need.”

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically supervised program combining exercise, diet and education in order to slow or stop the progression of heart disease. HRH Cardiac Rehab can educate and motivate patients to strengthen their heart and build their confidence.  A doctor’s order is required for cardiac rehab.  With a qualifying diagnosis, cardiac rehab is covered by Medicare and most insurance policies.

Donations to the Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation are used to provide an enhanced healing environment for patients at HRH and provide an investment in the future of healthcare for our families and our community.
