Koontz Builder earns county’s first “Certified Green Professional” designation

Tim Koontz, President of Dale Koontz Builders, recently earned the designation of Certified Green Professional (CGP).   This certification is offered by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and is designed to teach strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes. NAHB has certified 4000 people nationwide and Koontz is the only Certified Green Professional in Adams County.

Koontz completed three days of classroom training that covered a wide range of topics including strategies for incorporating green-building principles into homes using cost-effective methods of construction and how green homes provide buyers with lower maintenance costs and good indoor air quality. Techniques for differentiating home products with indoor environmental quality and energy and resource efficiency were also discussed in the curriculum.

To maintain his certification, Koontz will be required to complete 12 hours of continuing education every three years from building industry related educational activities.

Dale Koontz Builder is an Energy Star partner and has been in the custom homebuilding and remodeling business in the Quincy, IL area since 1973.
