The Midsummer Arts Faire is pleased to announce two Young Collectors Gallery grant recipients - Central Middle School and Ellington Elementary. Each school will receive $500 to fund unique, age appropriate art lessons presented by a local artist.
Together these projects will help bring arts education to more than 350 Adams County students.
Funding for these awards is made available through sales from the Young Collectors Gallery - an experience designed to inspire young people to become connoisseurs of fine art. Midsummer Arts Faire participating artists and area artists donate small pieces of original work to be sold to children ages 4-14 for under $10.
The YCG will take place in Washington Park in conjunction with the 7th annual Midsummer Arts Faire Saturday, June 26 from 10am until 5pm and Sunday, June 27 from 11am until all the artwork is sold.
No parents are allowed in the YCG, but volunteers will be on hand to accompany small children as they make their selections. The YCG helps young people develop their own unique taste for fine art.
Over the past three years, the Midsummer Arts Faire has donated $2,500 to support art programs in local schools. The first grant for $500 was presented to Blessed Sacrament in 2008. Madison School and Payson Seymour each received $500 in 2009.
